Senior midfielder Kathy Holmes scored three goals and had two assists to lead No. 7 St. Mary's to a 16-8 victory over No. 20 Randolph-Macon in a women's lacrosse game yesterday in Ashland, Va.

Sophomore attack Kate Story (Mount Hebron) and freshman midfielder Sarah Sloane (St. Paul's) had two goals each as the Seahawks (8-0) built a 7-0 lead in the opening 16 minutes.

The Yellow Jackets (4-3) scored four of the first five goals of the second half to cut the Seahawks' lead to 10-6 with 17:00 remaining, but they would get no closer.

St. Mary's also got three goals from Megan McFall, Story and Sloane.

Villa Julie 12, Catholic 11: Trailing 10-7, the host Mustangs (5-4) tied the game and then Nikki Hentz scored back-to-back goals within a minute to defeat the visiting Cardinals (3-6).

Hentz and Heather Valunas had three goals each for Villa Julie.
