Indictments announced in unrelated homicides

The city state's attorney's office announced indictments yesterday in three unrelated homicide cases, including one in which a 21-year-old man is accused of killing his uncle.

Dezai Williams of the 700 block of E. 41st St. was indicted on first-degree murder and handgun charges in the shooting Jan. 25 of his uncle, Belton Bell, 55, in a hallway at his apartment building in the 600 block of Dumbarton Ave.

Also indicted were:

Tyrone Aaron Slay, 22, of the 1700 block of Chilton St. on a second-degree murder charge in the beating death of Carl Weston Crawford, 35, last year in the 600 block of Cherry Hill Road.

Martin Marcus, 29, of the 1200 block of N. Chester St. and Xavier Evans, 24, of the 5600 block of Belair Road on first-degree murder, robbery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and handgun charges in the shooting death Feb. 9 of Craig Lamont Pope, 32, at his home in the 4000 block of Ridgewood Ave.

The accused are being held without bail and were scheduled for arraignment hearings April 23.
