March 26, 2002|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A man armed with a box cutter snatched a cash register from the Crown station at Route 216 and All Saints Road in North Laurel early Sunday, Howard County police said.

The man, whom police described as white, in his 20s, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 130 to 145 pounds, demanded money from a clerk and threatened him with the box cutter.

The clerk fought with the man before running outside to shout for help. While the clerk was outside, the man yanked the cash register and its contents from behind the counter and ran out, police said.

The cash register contained an undisclosed amount of money.

Outside, the clerk and the assailant fought again before the man ran away with the cash register, police said.

He fled in a black Toyota driven by another man, police said. No one was injured during the robbery, police said, and no one has been arrested.
