East-side man fatally shot standing at street corner

A 32-year-old man who was standing on a corner near his home in East Baltimore talking with a friend died Saturday afternoon when a man with a handgun ran up and shot him, police said.

Willie L. Brown of the 1100 block of Montford Ave. was pronounced dead at nearby Johns Hopkins Hospital shortly after the shooting, which occurred about 4 p.m. at the corner of Montford and Biddle Street police said.

Detectives were interviewing witnesses last night.
