Overturned truck kills driver, creates I-95 jam

March 22, 2002

The driver of a tractor-trailer hauling mulch was killed yesterday when the northbound rig overturned on Interstate 95 near Halethorpe, producing a 5-mile traffic jam, state police reported.

The identity of the driver and his destination were not available. Police said the 18-wheeler overturned about 3 p.m. for no apparent reason amid heavy traffic between Exit 47 near Halethorpe and Exit 49, Interstate 695.

State troopers directed motorists to get past the wreck, while police used Route 32 to direct other northbound traffic from I-95 to the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
