Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Southwestern District

Robbery: Police were seeking a man who robbed the gift shop at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church in the 2600 block of Wilkens Ave. of less than $100 about 1 p.m. Tuesday after threatening a female clerk with a knife. Moments before the robbery, the man looked at religious medals on display.

Southeastern District

Burglary: Two 27-inch-screen televisions and a videocassette recorder -- all valued at more than $700 -- were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 100 block of Rochester Place.

Eastern District

Theft: Someone entered a patient's room at Johns Hopkins Hospital on Tuesday and stole $20.

Southern District

Theft: A 10-speed mountain bicycle valued at $500 was stolen Tuesday from the back yard of a house in the 1600 block of S. Charles St.

Baltimore County

Essex Precinct

Robbery: A woman, 21, was walking in the 1500 block of Homberg Ave. about 8 a.m. Tuesday when a man stole her purse containing cash and property -- all valued at $100.

Rape: A 27-year-old man was in custody yesterday, charged with raping a woman about 3 a.m. Tuesday behind a shopping center in the 1500 block of Nicolay Road. The woman, also 27, told police she was walking there when she was attacked. She was treated at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Police said their investigation led to the arrest that day of John Robert Bailey of the 800 block of Hillman Court in Baltimore.

Burglaries: Police believe that the same person was responsible for breaking into two liquor stores Tuesday -- each by smashing the glass front door. At the Good Spirits liquor store in the 1900 block of Old Eastern Ave., the intruder used a trash can to break the glass and stole $40. At Green's Liquors in the 200 block of Back River Neck Road, a block of cement was used, and more than $100 was taken. The stores are less than a mile apart.

North Point Precinct

Theft/arrest: A woman, 27, of the 5100 block of Goodnow Road in Baltimore was arrested Tuesday after she attempted to leave an Ames store in the 8400 block of Eastern Blvd. without paying for a microwave oven that a security officer found in her backpack.

Woodlawn Precinct

Robbery: Two teen-age males, one armed with a shotgun and the other a baseball bat, robbed a Papa John's Pizza deliveryman in the 9900 block of Hoyt Circle of two pizzas and more than $80 about 8:10 p.m. Tuesday.

Cockeysville Precinct

Burglary: A guitar valued at $400 was stolen Tuesday from a house in the 18300 block of Prettyboy Dam Road.
