The Bruins could have area's top hitting team with the likes of Matt Lewis, Jon Taylor, Preston Pehrson and Andrew Keever in the middle of the lineup.

3. Severna Park

Last season: 16-8, No. 6

The third Anne Arundel County team with a wealth of quality returnees, the Falcons are a strong contender for the 3A title.

4. Eastern Tech

Last season: 17-3, No. 9

The pitching of Brandon Berlett, Nick Andryszak and Kenny Miller make the Mavericks Baltimore County's team to beat.

5. Mount St. Joseph

Last season: 19-10, No. 11

The pitching duo of Joe Peeler and Dave Centineo make the Gaels a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference contender.

6. Cardinal Gibbons

Last season: 14-11, unranked

The Crusaders are ready to contend in the A Conference. D.J. Steirer and Jason Volker lead a deep pitching staff.

7. Old Mill

Last season: 13-8, unranked

Second-team All-Anne Arundel County pitcher Jon Pavlis and Nick Couzantino will give the Patriots quality pitching.

8. Centennial

Last season: 17-9, No. 10

Brad Loveless returns as the pitching ace on a team that won its final eight games last spring to capture the 2A title.

9. Gilman

Last season: 11-10, unranked

The Greyhounds are an A Conference contender with right-handers Scott Gehring, Ambrose Wooden and Alan Barrett.

10. St. Paul's

Last season: 20-15, No. 7

More than 10 players are back from last year's A Conference runner-up Crusaders.

11. Glenelg

Last season: 16-7, unranked

The Gladiators, a perennial Howard County power, will challenge Centennial for the league and 2A West Regional titles.

12. C. Milton Wright

Last season: 14-8, No. 12

The Harford County favorite returns eight starters and four pitchers.

13. Archbishop Curley

Last season: 23-8, No. 3

After winning their second A Conference title in three years, the Friars are in a rebuilding mode.

14. Atholton

Last season: 12-10, unranked

A trio of quality pitchers - right-handers Steve Merson and Matt Ravell and lefty Vyt Rivers - has coach Kevin Kelly optimistic.

15. South Carroll

Last season: 8-15, unranked

The Cavaliers are anticipating a big year with the return of two second-team All-Carroll County pitchers in seniors Josh Lewis and Bo Sauter.
