Father, daughter suffer minor injuries in crash

March 10, 2002

A father and daughter escaped from their crash-damaged car just minutes before it burst into flames yesterday on a West Baltimore street, police said. The two suffered only minor injuries.

Officers had stopped a 2002 Jeep Liberty about 12:30 p.m., but the driver sped off. During the ensuing chase, the Jeep crashed into the 1985 Ford Crown Victoria containing the father and daughter - whom police did not identify - pushing it into a building in the 900 block of N. Fremont Ave.

Police took into custody the Jeep's driver, Ricardo James Womble, 49, of Baltimore. Womble had two outstanding warrants in Baltimore County, city police said.
