Fire company to hold dance, game night for children

The Orchard Beach Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a dance and game night for children ages 8 to 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. today in its hall, 7549 Solley Road.

The cost is $4.

Food and refreshments will be sold.

County dietitians to offer samples of healthful food

Dietitians from the county Health Department will offer samples of healthful foods to shoppers at Lauer's IGA on Fort Smallwood Road from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday.

Shoppers can sample foods, take home free recipes and pick up brochures filled with healthful eating ideas as part of the Good Food for Good Health campaign.

The weekend programs are a part of the department's Learn to Live cancer prevention program.

Murphy fund-raiser: County Councilwoman Shirley Murphy, a 3rd District Democrat, will hold a champagne breakfast campaign fund-raiser from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday at Windows On the Bay in Pasadena. Spring cleaning: Lake Waterford Park in Pasadena and the Anne Arundel chapter of the Sierra Club are sponsoring Spring Clean-Up Day from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. March 16 at the park. Fund-raiser: Bello Machre, a Pasadena-based nonprofit organization that supports people with developmental disabilities, will hold a fund-raiser, Every Step Counts, on June 8 on the B&A Trail. Hikers, bikers and in-line skaters can raise money by having people sponsor them to walk three miles, bicycle 15 miles or skate seven miles.
