UM group to hunt for Weller successor

Maryland athletic director Debbie Yow put together the search committee yesterday to find the school's next women's basketball coach.

Senior associate athletic director Kathleen Worthington is chairing members Yow, her assistant Rob Mullens, academic support head Rob Koonce and biology professor Bill Higgins.

Chris Weller stepped down Monday after 27 seasons that included three Final Four appearances. Candidates could include WNBA assistant and former Loyola coach Pat Coyle, Virginia Tech's Bonnie Henrickson, Tulane's Lisa Stockton and Wisconsin's Jane Albright.

Boe Pearman, a former Maryland assistant and current Rhode Island coach, and Terps assistant Christy Scott also are expected to receive consideration.
