Concerts

Jazz: The Fort Meade-based Jazz Ambassadors, the official jazz touring band of the Army, will perform at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Arundel High School Auditorium, 1001 Annapolis Road, Gambrills. Also performing will be the winners of that day's Maryland State Jazz Festival competition, which features high school and middle school bands from across the state.

Benefit concert: Cellist Evan Drachman and pianist Richard Dowling will perform at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Chesapeake Arts Center, 194 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Piatigorsky Foundation, which lost its New York offices during the attacks of Sept. 11. The Piatigorsky Foundation's mission is to make classical music a regular part of community life. Information: 410-636-6597.

Symphonic poetry: The Naval Academy Band will play music designed to bring global scenes to life at 8 p.m. tomorrow in the Naval Academy's Mahan Hall. Musical numbers that will be played include William Walton's Coronation March, written for England's King George VI; Four Scottish Dances, which paints a sonic scene of Scotland's highlands; and Cartoon, which celebrates the music of Saturday morning cartoons. Winter concert: "Winter Reflections", a concert featuring the intimate sounds of flute, voice, and guitar, will be performed at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 461 College Parkway in Arnold. Flutist Carolyn Sonnen, guitarist Linda Stein-Patterson, and soprano Jane Elkin will perform music reflecting seasonal images and moods. Free admission.

Coffeehouse anniversary: The Kennedys will be featured along with singer-songwriter Peter Mayer at the 10th-anniversary celebration of the nonprofit 333 Coffeehouse at 8 p.m. March 15 at the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Annapolis, 333 Dubois Road. The Kennedys released their Positively Live CD last year. Cameo appearances by musicians Daryl Beard, Erik Balkey and Neil Harpe also are scheduled. Auditions: The Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre is holding auditions at Belvedere Elementary School in Arnold for two of its productions. Auditions for Crazy for You will be at 1 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday. This is a "wild West" musical, and people auditioning should prepare a song.
