Nomination forms are available for Long Reach board

Nomination petitions will be available through March 21 for members of the Long Reach community who are interested in running for the village board. Three board members will be elected April 20 for two-year terms.

Residents who own or lease lien-paying properties in Long Reach village are eligible. Candidates must submit an election petition and candidates statement by 9 p.m. March 21.

Information packets with petition forms and election rules are available at the front desk at Stonehouse in Long Reach Village Center from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Senior center to offer beginners yoga class

The 50+ Center in east Columbia will offer a beginners yoga class, sponsored by the Yoga Center, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays, beginning next week.

The cost is $93.60 for students ages 60 and older; $104 for students to age 60. Ten students are the minimum required for the class to be held.

Library teen panel to meet in March, April and May

The east Columbia library will hold meetings of its Teen Advisory Board from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, April 15 and May 13.

The board helps plan library events and services. Teens can join the board any time. Refreshments will be served.

A Parent-Child Book club, for youths ages 9 to 12 with a parent, meets from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at the library.

Bull Run by Paul Fleischman will be discussed March 19. Uncle Boris in the Yukon by Daniel Pinkwater is the topic April 16, and Monsieur Eek by David Ives will be discussed May 21.

Volunteers sought: Dasher Green Elementary School seeks volunteer mentors to tutor children in math, science and reading during the day. Tutors are needed for about 10 children. Information: Leonard Frieson, community outreach coordinator, 410-313-7601.

Vendors wanted: Long Reach Community Association will hold its Kids' Clothes Swap from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20 on the Long Reach Village Center parking lot. Vendors or residents can sell gently used children's items, including toys and furniture. Spaces the size of a parking spot cost $15 and are available to the first 30 applicants. Swing, hop: Long Reach Community Association, 8775 Cloudleap Court, will sponsor a Swing and Lindy Hop dance class, taught by dancers Ariston DeLeon and Monica Schwartz, today through April 9. The beginner-level class will meet from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Stonehouse, 8775 Cloudleap Court. The cost is $63 for six weeks.
