School guidance counselors to present session on raising boys Wednesday

Guidance counselors from several Crofton area elementary schools are joining to present a discussion meeting for parents, "Raising Boys" at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Four Seasons Elementary School, 979 Waugh Chapel Road.

The discussion will focus on issues raised in the book The Wonder of Boys by therapist Michael Gurian.

Completes training: Pfc. Jordan J. Norsworthy, son of Carol L. Norsworthy of Crofton, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Norsworthy is a 2001 graduate of Arundel High School in Gambrills.

Graduates: Navy Hospitalman Deontanellie D. Wheeler, son of Cassandra Hurt of Fort Meade and Leon Wells of Sylacauga, Ala., recently graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, Ill.

Assignment: Navy Seaman Samuel C. Burgett, son-in-law of Daniel and Wendy Bauer of Severn, is a gunner's mate assigned to the logistics and support unit of Naval Special Warfare Group Two at Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek.

Reunion: Plans are under way for a reunion of Arundel High School's Class of 1967. Class members are asked to contact Ann Henderson, 410-729-0995, or by e-mail,, so she can update the mailing list. Representatives from the classes of 1966 and 1968 also are encouraged to contact Henderson.

Church suppers: St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Crofton sponsors soup and bread suppers Fridays during Lent. Mock horse race: Anne Arundel County's eight Rotary clubs are sponsoring a mock video horse race, Rotary Raises Stakes for Charity, April 20 at Laurel Park. Proceeds from the event will go toward the purchase of a dental van that will visit preschools, day care centers, senior centers, assisted living facilities and homes in the county to provide dental care.
