Five players scored two goals apiece as the No. 3 Duke women's lacrosse team defeated Johns Hopkins, 11-3, yesterday in Durham, N.C.

The Blue Devils, who beat No. 1 Maryland, 9-8, on Friday, improved to 3-0. The Blue Jays fell to 0-3.

Katie Laschinger opened the scoring at the 25:22 mark, but the Blue Jays' Christy Peterson countered with an unassisted goal to tie the score less than three minutes later.

The Blue Devils got the next two goals, but Heidi Pearce cut the margin to 3-2 on an unassisted goal with 57 seconds left in the first half.

The Blue Devils scored the last two goals of the half, including a free-position goal by Laschinger as time expired. Then they netted the first five goals of the second half to take a commanding 10-2 lead before the Blue Jays' Kristen Miller recorded her first career goal with 2:12 remaining.


Salisbury 29, York 4: Steve Brianas and Kevin Gremmell scored four goals each as the Sea Gulls (4-0, 4-0 Capital Athletic Conference) routed the Spartans (0-1, 0-1).

Villa Julie 20, College of Misericordia 1: Dan Velez scored six goals to go along with one assist and Bob Rinehimer added two goals and five assists as the Mustangs (1-0) dropped the Cougars (0-1).
