Open burning prohibited because of dry weather

March 03, 2002

The Carroll County Health Department has imposed an immediate ban on open burning in the county because of dry weather conditions.

The Carroll County Fire Chiefs Association has advised the health department that the exceedingly dry weather has resulted in hazardous conditions countywide.

The Carroll County health officer, acting as the local control officer, will not grant approval to any open-burning permits and is rescinding all existing burning permits until further notice.

Anyone with questions about the ban may contact Matt Helwig in the Bureau of Environmental Health at 410-857-5009 or 410- 876-1884.
