Fire in rowhouse on Caroline Street displaces 8 people

Eight people, including four children, were displaced yesterday after their rowhouse in the 1600 block of N. Caroline St. in East Baltimore caught fire. No one was injured.

The fire, which residents and fire officials believe originated in the kitchen, caused extensive damage to the back of the three-story structure.

Man, 24, killed in shooting on East Baltimore street

A 24-year-old man was shot and killed about 4 a.m. yesterday in the 2400 block of E. Biddle St. in East Baltimore. The victim's name was not released.

Police are investigating the incident.

In Harford County

Man killed in Bel Air crash identified by state police

BEL AIR -- State police yesterday identified a man who was killed in a car crash in Bel Air on Friday night as Jeffrey Everson, 42, of the 8200 block of Cypress Mill Road in White Marsh.

Everson died when his Ford Explorer collided with a pickup truck on U.S. 1 at Whitaker Mill Road.

Council accepting entries in billboard design contest

The Governor's Council on Adolescent Pregnancy and Campaign For Our Children are accepting entries for their annual contest to design billboards and postcards that warn of the consequences of teen pregnancy.

The contest is open to young people between 12 and 18 years old. Deadline for entries is March 15.
