Harford County man dies after SUV runs off road

March 01, 2002|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A 55-year-old Harford County man died yesterday at a hospital after being thrown from his sport utility vehicle as it ran off a roadway near his home, authorities reported.

James Ritt of the 3600 block of Burkins Road in Street was driving alone on Cherry Hill Road about 5 p.m. when his Geo Tracker left the roadway and he was ejected, said Lt. Edward Hopkins, spokesman for the county sheriff's department.

Hopkins said Ritt, who had an undisclosed medical problem, suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead about an hour later at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air. An investigation was under way to determine whether the medical problem caused the crash, Hopkins added.
