Katie I. Vaughn, 71, East Baltimore resident

Katie I. Vaughn, a homemaker and longtime East Baltimore resident, died Saturday at Mercy Medical Center of complications from a fall. She was 71.

A resident of East Baltimore for more than 40 years, Katie Leath was born and raised in Burlington, N.C., where she graduated from high school.

In 1951, she married Fred H. Vaughn, a mechanic who died in 1991.

Mrs. Vaughn enjoyed cooking and entertaining.

She was a member of Union Ridge United Church of Christ in Burlington.

Services will be held Friday at Sharp Funeral Home in Burlington. Locally, a viewing is scheduled from noon to 7 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home, 1206 W. North Ave.

Mrs. Vaughn is survived by a son, Fred D. Vaughn of Baltimore; a daughter, Denise V. Alexander of Alexandria, Va.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her companion, James Little of Baltimore.
