Exhibitors wanted for Chamber show at Laurel Park

Exhibitors are sought for "Business 2002: A Business to Business Trade Show," sponsored by the Howard County Chamber of Commerce and Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber. The show, in its third year, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 10 in a ballroom at Laurel Park.

The show will be marketed throughout the Baltimore-Washington corridor. Parking is free. Networking breakfasts and free seminars are planned.

Booths must be reserved by March 8.

Women Entrepreneurs slates training course

Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides entrepreneurial training, is recruiting candidates for its next business skills training course. Candidates will be screened from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 6. The application deadline is March 29.

The group offers a three-month training course as well as post-training business consultation, mentoring, financing strategies, community networking assistance, Internet training, government procurement assistance and resource sharing.

Any Maryland resident with a viable business idea or a business in need of development may apply. The fee, which ranges from $85-$325, is based on a sliding scale. Payment plans are available.

Scholarships offered by Women's Network

The Business Women's Network of Howard County is accepting applications for scholarships to be awarded in June.

One scholarship provides assistance to a female Howard County high school senior pursuing post-secondary studies at an accredited educational institution. The second scholarship is for a mature woman with ties to Howard County to enroll in a full- or part-time educational program.

Applicants who have demonstrated leadership and commitment to their communities are encouraged to apply. Applications are available through high school guidance counselors or by calling 410-740-0126. Completed applications must be received by April 1.

Chamber of Commerce sets networking event

The Howard County Chamber of Commerce will offer a Business After Business networking event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Somerford Place assisted-living facility, 8220 Snowden River Parkway, at Route 108.

The cost is $10 for members, $20 for prospective members.
