Canisius pulls away in 2nd half, beating Loyola women, 80-70

Jenel Stevens scored 18 of her game-high 25 points in the second half to lead the Canisius women to an 80-70 victory over Loyola last night in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at the Koessler Athletic Center in Buffalo, N.Y.

Stevens scored five of her points in a 10-2 Canisius run midway through the second half that broke open a tie game and gave the Griffins (11-15, 8-9) an eight-point lead.

Slater led the Greyhounds (11-15, 5-12) with 19 points and nine rebounds.

Hood 64, Chestnut Hill 48: Trailing 24-15 at the half, the host Blazers, led by Mandy Fischer's 20 points, scored 49 second-half points, more than Chestnut Hill (17-9) did the entire game.

Hood (20-6) will play host to College of Notre Dame tonight at 8 in the Atlantic Women's Collegiate Conference final.

College of Notre Dame 85, Trinity 71: Amanda Poppleton led all scorers with 28 points as the Gators beat the Tigers and gained tonight's AWCC title game.

Men

Frostburg State 83, Penn-State Behrend 74: Junior Pierre Bowery scored a team-high 22 points and sophomore Dustin Robinson added a career-high 17 as the Bobcats downed the Lions in the semifinals of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference tournament at Pitt-Bradford.
