Three men were stabbed early yesterday during a fight in a popular downtown nightclub, while another was found beaten unconscious outside the club's doors, city police said.

The fight started about 1:20 a.m. on the second floor of Hammerjacks on Guilford Avenue, and off-duty police officers providing security services there quickly rushed inside, police said.

They found three men stabbed - Eric Clash, 23, of Park Heights, Darrell A. Alexander, 32, of Woodlawn and Raeshio Rice, 29, of Essex.

They were released after treatment at Johns Hopkins Hospital, officials said.

Police said last night that they did not know who started the fight or who was involved in it.

As more officers arrived at the club, they spotted a group of men stomping, kicking and punching a man on the street, police said. The men then ran away, leaving Willie Mitchell III, 24, unconscious, police said.

Mitchell, of Northeast Baltimore, also was released after treatment at Hopkins, authorities said.

Police arrested a man when he ran away from the club.

Police said they were not sure whether the two fights were related.
