Chapelgate overcame a sluggish start with a strong third quarter yesterday to beat visiting Severn, 59-28, in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference semifinal game. Chapelgate will play defending champion St. John's-Prospect Hall tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Villa Julie College in a rematch of last season's B Conference championship.

The Flames (20-5) outscored the Admirals 10-2 in the third quarter, breaking open what had been a close game. Chapelgate's second-half dominance continued in the final eight minutes, which saw Chapelgate double up Severn, 22-11.

The Admirals had kept the margin within single digits for much of the first half, and went into the break trailing by just 27-15.

The Flames were led by a pair of guards. Sophomore Heather Landis scored 16, and junior backcourt mate Laura Holtrop added 13.

The Admirals failed to have a scorer in double figures, and were led by freshman guard Sarah Meisenberg, who scored six points.

Chapelgate made 23 field goals, while Severn had 10.
