Apple Ford's Doetsch wins Salute to Dealers Award

George Doetsch of Apple Ford in Columbia is one of six recipients of the Ford Motor Co.'s Salute to Dealers Award.

The award honors Ford, Lincoln and Mercury dealers who make a commitment to improving the lives of those in need.

Doetsch created "Drive to Survive," which has raised money for the University of Maryland Medical System/Maryland General Hospital's mobile mammography program and Shock Trauma Center. Apple Ford provides financial and volunteer support to Special Olympics, Race for the Cure, March of Dimes and other charitable organizations.

Jonas and Roy elected to Tai Sophia board

Dr. Wayne B. Jonas, a physician, and Rustum Roy, Ph.D., have been elected to Tai Sophia Institute's board of trustees.

Jonas is a member of the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine. He was director of the Office of Complementary and Alternative Medicine at the National Institutes of Health from 1995 to 1998.

Roy, a member of the faculty of Pennsylvania State University for 50 years and now professor emeritus, is founder of Friends of Health, an advocacy organization for complementary medicine.

Tai Sophia Institute, formerly the Traditional Acupuncture Institute, is based in Columbia.
