Motorcyclist, 34, killed in crash in Charles County

February 10, 2002

BRYAN'S ROAD -- A 34-year-old Waldorf man was killed on Route 224 yesterday when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car, state police reported.

The man, whose name was not released, suffered head trauma, internal injuries, and broken legs and arms in the collision, which occurred about 2:15 p.m. on Route 224 at Bumpy Oak Road, police said. He died from his injuries en route to Fort Washington Medical Center.

State police said a preliminary investigation shows that a 40-year-old driver from La Plata in a 2001 Toyota might have failed to yield the right of way to the northbound 1998 Suzuki motorcycle when attempting to make a left turn.
