Winter Olympics

Salt Lake 2002

February 09, 2002

Composer John Williams' latest recording contains the theme song of these games. The cover has a Salt Lake 2002 logo and the Olympic rings, surrounding a photo of a snow-covered mountain.

But nowhere is the mountain identified. Officials for Sony Music thought it was in Utah's Wasatch Range.

The Deseret News, noting that the peak didn't look familiar, asked local outdoors experts for help. None could identify it. Fear spread that the mountain wasn't Utah's.

It's not. It's Mount Wilson in Telluride, Colo.
