ORIOLES: Agreed to terms with P Sidney Ponson on one-year contract.

ASTROS: Named Brian Dayett coach at Single-A Michigan. Named Kevin Eichorn trainer at Double-A Round Rock. Named Mike Smith trainer at Single-A Lexington.

TIGERS: Agreed to terms with P Matt Anderson on three-year contract with option for 2005.


USA BASKETBALL: Named Anne Donovan assistant coach for 2002 women's world championship team.

BUCKS: Signed G Sam Cassell (Dunbar) to multiyear contract extension.

LAKERS: Placed C Shaquille O'Neal on injured list. Activated F-C Jelani McCoy from injured list.


NFL: Named Titans coach Jeff Fisher co-chairman of the NFL competition committee and Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren to NFL competition committee.
