UM weekly glance

February 08, 2002|By Gary Lambrecht

A look back: The Terps had the week off after beating North Carolina State, 89-73, on Sunday.

A look ahead: Maryland travels to North Carolina on Sunday, returns home to face Georgia Tech on Wednesday, then heads into a much-anticipated rematch with top-ranked Duke at Cole Field House on Feb. 17.

Of note: Since falling to 15-9 with a 74-71 loss to Florida State at Cole Field House last Feb. 14, the Terps have won 13 straight games at home and have an overall record of 28-5.

Worth watching: The colors in the crowd at Chapel Hill on Sunday. Attendance has dropped by nearly 20 percent at Carolina, which has its worst team in decades. Maryland red could compete noticeably with Carolina blue in the stands.

By the numbers: Backup center Ryan Randle is averaging 4.5 points and 3.8 rebounds, despite playing only 9.7 minutes a game.
