Bowie men edge Va. Union, 78-77

Stephen Moss-Kelley shot 11-for-19 from the field and scored 29 points to lead the Bowie State men's basketball team to a 78-77 win over host Virginia Union yesterday in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association game in Richmond, Va.

The Bulldogs (13-6) trailed by 10 at halftime but outscored the Panthers (9-8) 47-36 in the second half.

Tim Washington scored 17 for the Bulldogs and Cornelius McMurray added 16 points.

Duane Crockett led Virginia Union with 28 points.

Women

Western Maryland 67, Dickinson 50: The host Green Terror (15-6) ran out to a 40-19 halftime lead and held off the Red Devils for a Centennial Conference win.

Freshman Kelly Cramp and Kris Brust (Glenelg) led the attack for the Green Terror with 14 points each. Jen Piccolomini had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Bowie State 58, Virginia Union 55: Asia Haney scored 16 points and Keisha Todd contributed 10 points and 15 rebounds to lead the visiting Bulldogs (9-11, 2-4) past the Panthers (8-12, 0-6) in a CIAA game.

Allyson Hardy added 11 points for Bowie State, which won despite shooting 29.9 percent.
