SNOW HILL - The president of Lewes Volunteer Fire Department in Delaware died yesterday morning in a car crash when the sport utility vehicle he was driving was hit by car whose driver ran a stop sign, Maryland State Police reported.

Louis A. He was southbound on U.S. 113 when the other driver, northbound on Route 12, ran a stop sign, said Cpl. Ted Gray.

The other driver, whose name was not released, was treated for minor injuries, Gray said. He said no charges had been filed as of yesterday.

The fire started about 6:45 a.m. as a mechanic was working on the heating system of one of the 20-passenger, diesel-powered buses.
