Mike Reider

Hereford, wrestling

The 160-pound senior added a second tournament crown with a victory in the championship final of the Franklin Invitational last weekend. Reider, who captured a title at the Parkville Tournament last month, used a bye, two pins, and an 8-2 decision of Andrew Winfield of South Carroll in the final to claim the title. Reider, who also pinned two opponents in dual meets last week in a combined 74 seconds, improved to 23-1. He finished second at the Loch Raven Duals Tournament, where he suffered his only loss to Rob Miller of Archbishop Curley. Reider is the reigning Class 2A-1A North regional champion and placed second at the state tournament at 160 pounds last season.

Katie Hopkins

Notre Dame Prep, swimming

The sophomore set two individual meet records and helped the medley relay team to another on Saturday, as the Blazers won their eighth straight private schools swimming championship - their third in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland.

For the second straight year, Hopkins set a meet record in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.68). She also set a record in the 200-yard individual medley (2:10.34). Hopkins finished unbeaten in both events.

Hopkins, who swims for the North Baltimore Aquatic Club, swam the breaststroke leg on the Blazers' record-setting medley relay team (1:53.52). She also helped the Blazers to third place in the 200 freestyle relay.
