Authorities identify motorcyclist killed in fatal accident

January 30, 2002|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A man who died Monday when his motorcycle went off the road and through a fence in North Laurel was identified yesterday as Ronald Vandervort of Laurel, Howard County police said.

Vandervort, 60, was a resident of the 3000 block of Piney Woods Place in the Anne Arundel County section of Laurel, Howard police said.

He apparently failed to navigate a sharp bend in the road and his motorcycle careened through a fence and into a field, police said. Vandervort was the only person injured in the one-vehicle accident, which occurred about 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.
