Police release identities of two homicide victims
Baltimore police released the identities yesterday of the city's 15th and 16th murder victims of the year.
Lamont Wilson, 31, of the 700 block of E. Biddle St. was found dead of gunshot wounds in the street in the 1300 block of N. Chester St. about 1:25 p.m. Friday by police.
Police also said that Ricky Gholson, 18, of the 700 block of E. 37th St. in Waverly was the man found wounded at Lafayette Avenue and Port Street in East Baltimore at 4:30 p.m. Friday. He died of gunshot wounds that evening at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
In Howard County
Man, 23, fatally shot in apartment parking lot
OAKLAND MILLS -- A Columbia man became the first homicide victim in Howard County this year when he died just before midnight Friday after being shot in the head in front of the Stevens Forest Apartment Complex.
Deshawn Anthony Wallace, 23, of the 9200 block of Connell Court, was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center about 8 p.m. Friday after police discovered him lying in a parking lot in the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road.
In Baltimore County
Hourlong blackout affects Towson, Parkville area
TOWSON -- About 10,500 BGE customers in Towson and Parkville lost power last night for about an hour.
A power switch failed in the 700 block of E. Joppa Road about 7 last night, BGE spokeswoman Sharon Sasada said, and blacked out homes, businesses, traffic and street lights. Baltimore County police directed traffic at major intersections along Joppa Road and on Perring Parkway.
She said power was restored at 8:05 p.m.
