January 23, 2002|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Anne Arundel County police released a photograph yesterday of a man sought as a suspect in the carjacking of a woman Jan. 2 at Arundel Mills mall in Hanover.

Police said the photograph was taken from surveillance video at the Saks Fifth Avenue outlet in the mall, where the man was questioned by store clerks about a suspicious credit card transaction, they said.

The man left the store about 6 p.m. and forced a 50-year-old woman from her Mercedes-Benz in the parking lot of the Bass Pro outlet, according to police reports. The woman was not injured. About 30 minutes later police found her car abandoned on the exit ramp of Quarterfield Road to southbound Interstate 97.

Anyone who can identify the man or who has information about the carjacking is asked to call investigators at 410-222-3475.
