Jewish group seeks applicants for Calif. institute program

The Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore is accepting applications for the Melinda Joy Siegel Memorial Scholarship Fund, which sends young Jewish adults from Maryland and the District of Columbia to participate in the Brandeis-Bardin Summer Institute in Brandeis, Calif.

The institute offers programs on Jewish learning, thought and creative arts in a camp setting. Its curriculum does not emphasize a particular branch of Judaism, and participants, who must be between ages 19 and 26, are not required to have a strong Jewish background.

National Aquarium needs volunteers age 18 and older

The National Aquarium in Baltimore is seeking people who have a curiosity about marine life and enjoy helping others to work as volunteers.

Volunteers at least 18 years old are needed as exhibit guides and information desk receptionists. Limited behind-the-scenes positions are available.

Artists invited to apply for 14th Open Studio Tour

Mayor Martin O'Malley, the Mayor's Advisory Committee on Art and Culture, and School 33 Art Center invite artists to apply for the 14th annual Open Studio Tour from noon to 5 p.m. April 6 and 7.

Participation is open to professional artists with studios in Baltimore. Artists with studios outside the city may rent or share a space in Baltimore for a day.

Each artist must submit a registration form, a $25 fee, labeled slides of their work and a resume. The registration deadline is 4 p.m. Feb. 2. Information or registration: School 33 at 410-396-4641, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Parks department taking applications for beach jobs

TOWSON -- Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks is accepting applications for staff at Rocky Point and Oregon Ridge beaches and the Loch Raven fishing center.

Positions include lifeguard, beach assistant manager, park attendant and cashier. All jobs are seasonal. Full- and part-time opportunities are available.

Chamber of Commerce sets bull, oyster roast Feb. 15

WHITE MARSH -- Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual bull and oyster roast from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at Hilton Garden Inn, 5015 Campbell Blvd.
