Towson women lose 12th in row

Senior Vickey Harper came off the bench to score 12 points, grab 12 rebounds and block four shots to lead the North Carolina-Wilmington women's basketball team to a 66-40 Colonial Athletic Association win over Towson yesterday at the Towson Center.

It was the Tigers' 12th loss in a row, one short of the school record set last season.

The Seahawks (9-7, 3-4) jumped to a 17-0 lead in the first nine minutes behind six points from Harper. The Tigers (1-15, 0-7) answered with a 12-0 spurt, and they trailed 24-14 at halftime.

UNC Wilmington shot 57.6 percent in the second half, and led by as much as 66-37 in the final minutes.

Mia Chapman was the lone Tiger in double figures with 11 points.
