Business center plans its eighth awards ceremony

The Howard County Economic Development Authority's Business Resource Center will hold its eighth Equal Business Opportunity Awards program from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. April 23 at Ten Oaks Ballroom in Clarksville.

The program recognizes outstanding achievement and leadership by members of the county's business community.

Awards presented will include the Business Achievement Star, the Individual Achievement Star, the Business Commitment Star and the Individual Commitment Star. A new award, the Rising Business Star, will recognize a high school student.

Administrators' lunch to explore brochures, fliers

Howard County public information administrator Victoria Goodman and members of the Howard County Association of Volunteer Administrators will hold a brown-bag luncheon at noon Feb. 14 at Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks headquarters, 7120 Oakland Mills road, Columbia.

The topic will be "Getting the Most from Your Brochures and Fliers."

Communications group to meet in Annapolis

The Maryland Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications will meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 29 at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis.

Nadja Maril, a journalist and antiques dealer and appraiser, will speak. A light supper will be served.

The cost is $12 for members; $15 for nonmembers. Reservations are requested by Friday.
