The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

East Columbia

Cradlerock Way: 7200 block, Owen Brown. Someone took a cash register and money from Chinese Gourmet Carryout on Thursday night or Friday morning. A brick was thrown through the front window.

Old Columbia Road: 10000 block, Kings Contrivance. Someone stole a laptop computer from Praeos Technologies on Thursday night or Friday morning.

Robert Oliver Place: 5800 block, Oakland Mills. A green 1994 Ford Escort with Maryland tags was stolen Jan. 9.

West Columbia

Charter Drive: 10700 block, Hickory Ridge. Someone smashed the rear window of Victoria's Hair Salon early Monday morning and tried to open the cash registers. When police arrived, the intruder fled without taking anything.

Durham Road: 5100 block, Wilde Lake. Someone broke into a residence through a small basement window Thursday. The residence was ransacked, and jewelry and stereo equipment were taken.

Fair Oaks: 10400 block, Hickory Ridge. Someone broke through a window of a residence and took money Friday night or Saturday morning.

Ellicott City/Elkridge

Corporate Court: 3200 block, Ellicott City. A television and Nintendo game were taken from a residence Jan. 7.

N. Laurel/Savage/Jessup

Dove's Fly Way: 8800 block, N. Laurel. A 1993 Honda Accord was stolen Thursday.

Gorman Road: 9300 block, N. Laurel. A four-wheeler was stolen Sunday.

Scaggsville Road: 11200 block, Scaggsville. A motorcycle was stolen Jan. 9.
