Gavlick is trust manager at Farmers & Mechanics

Farmers & Mechanics Bank hired Blase Gavlick as manager of the Frederick-based bank's trust department.

Formerly a personal trust services regional manager for Allfirst Trust Co. of Pennsylvania, the Frederick resident holds a law degree from Widener University in Wilmington, Del., and an M.B.A. from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

Aument joins benefits unit of Brooks Financial Group

Brooks Financial Group of Timonium hired Michael D. Aument for its corporate benefits division. He implements and maintains benefit packages for clients in central Pennsylvania, focusing on employer-sponsored benefits. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, he was formerly with HealthAmerica.

J. Sarbanes heads Venable health care practice

Venable, Baetjer, Howard & Civiletti, LLP named John P. Sarbanes as leader of the firm's health care practice, with responsibility for coordination and management.

Venable's health care clients include Anne Arundel Medical Center, Greater Baltimore Medical Center and Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

A partner in the firm's Baltimore office, Sarbanes is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School. He has more than 10 years' experience in health care and corporate law.

Kolakowski-Hollen joins Rollins, Smalkin, Richards

Rollins, Smalkin, Richards & Mackie named Donna Kolakowski-Hollen a partner in the Baltimore law firm. A Kingsville resident, she is a law graduate of the University of Baltimore. She practices in the areas of worker's compensation and general litigation.

Health care

Wood is marketing chief at Chesapeake Hospice

Hospice of the Chesapeake hired Jan Weinberg Wood as director of marketing and public relations at the Millersville facility.

She is responsible for efforts to increase fund raising, awareness and market share. A member of the board of trustees of the Chesapeake Academy, she was co-owner of the CyphersWoods public relations agency in Annapolis.
