UM weekly glance

January 11, 2002|By Gary Lambrecht

Looking back: The Terps pounded North Carolina on Wednesday, 112-79.

Looking ahead: Maryland hits the road, starting with Georgia Tech on Sunday and ending with a much-anticipated trip to Duke on Thursday, before returning home to face Clemson on Jan. 20.

Of note: The only time Maryland shot better than its 57.9 percent rate against Carolina was against Temple (59 percent) on Nov. 9.

Worth watching: The continued development of junior backup center Ryan Randle. In his past two games, Randle has produced 21 points and 11 rebounds.

By the numbers: Counting the final month of the 2001 season, when the Terps played in five NCAA tournament games and won 10 of their last 12 games, Maryland has won 22 of its past 26 games. Its only losses have come against Duke (twice), Arizona and Oklahoma.
