Carroll camera club to exhibit works at TownMall this month

Carroll County Camera Club will hold its annual Gallery Show from Monday through Jan. 13 at TownMall of Westminster.

Club members will exhibit black-and-white and color photos of animals, scenery, still-lifes, nature, people, photojournalistic subjects, travel subjects, and flowers and plants.

Photos can be viewed during mall hours.

Lunch and Learn to focus on healing power of art

Carroll County Arts Council will hold a Lunch and Learn program from noon to 1 p.m. Jan. 16.

The Rev. Jane Howard-Feldman will present "Inspire Your Heart With Art," a program about how art promotes healing and introspection. She is curator of The Light at the Top of the Stairs, a gallery in Reisterstown.

Participants should take a bag lunch. Desserts and beverages will be provided.

Admission is $1 for nonmembers.

College photography club holds exhibit through Feb. 12

The Photography Club at Carroll Community College is holding its first exhibit in the Great Hall through Feb. 12.

Four club members are exhibiting their works: Rachael DeGroff, Sandi Horst, Maria Rast and Vanessa Shaw.

The club encourages photography as a hobby and gives students an outlet to share styles and gain knowledge.

Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Poet, artist and musician to perform for fund-raiser

One Tree Productions will hold a fund-raising event from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Jan. 18 in Uniontown.

The Blackbird Project will feature readings by poet Barbara DeCesare and by artist Danuta Kosk-Kosicka. Jeanean Songco Martin will perform on the hammer dulcimer.

Wine, cheese and desserts will be served.

The event will be held at the home of Pam Zappardino and Charles Collyer.

A limited number of tickets are available for $15 at Carroll County Arts Council, 15 E. Main St., Westminster.

Submissions being sought for arts council show

Carroll County Arts Council is seeking artists and art groups to exhibit two-dimensional works at its Westminster gallery from May through September.

A jury of local arts professionals and arts council board members will select artists or groups for exhibits at the gallery at 15 E. Main St.

Artists who wish to be considered should submit up to 10 professional-quality slides of their work. Slides should be numbered with a corresponding sheet with the artist's name, address, phone, title, medium and size.

The deadline for submissions is Jan. 31.
