Delores Helen Beads, 68, accounting technician

Delores Helen Beads, a retired accounting technician with the U.S. Department of Defense, died of a stroke Friday at North Arundel Hospital.

She was 68.

The Severn native retired in 1993 after 28 years as an accounting technician at Fort Meade and in Washington.

The former Delores Helen Jones was a graduate of the old Wiley H. Bates High School in Annapolis and attended Bowie State College.

In 1953, she married Calvin S. Beads Sr., who survives her.

Mrs. Beads was a longtime member of Metropolitan United Methodist Church and an alto member of its Inspirational Choir. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Severn Improvement Association, and was a den mother for Cub Scout Troop 258 in Severn.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the church, 548 Queenstown Road.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Calvin S. Beads Jr.; two brothers, Manuel W. Jones and Kenneth R. Jones; a sister, Barbara P. Johnson; and two grandchildren. All are of Severn.
