Howard woman killed in jump from Bay Bridge

A Howard County woman died last night about six hours after jumping nearly 200 feet from the Bay Bridge.

Cpl. Greg Prioleau, a Maryland Transportation Authority Police spokesman, said Christine M. Rohm, 26, of the 5000 block of Luckpenny Place in Columbia was found floating in the Chesapeake Bay about 3:20 p.m. after Transportation Authority officers received a report that a 1989 Jeep Cherokee had been abandoned on a lane of the bridge. Transportation Authority Police notified the Department of Natural Resources Police marine unit, which recovered the woman and took her to Sandy Point State Park.

A state police helicopter took her to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she remained in critical condition before dying shortly after 9 p.m. last night, Prioleau said.
