Insurance officials available to answer residents' questions

A representative from the Maryland Insurance Administration will be in Westminster from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the state comptroller's office, 532 Baltimore Blvd., Suite 306. People are welcome to come with insurance questions.

The administration helps residents who have questions about their insurance coverage or who need help filing a complaint against an insurance company.

Appointments are not required.

Bread-cutting ceremony opens BJ's Wholesale Club

BJ's Wholesale Club opened with a bread-cutting ceremony last month to celebrate the store's fresh bakery and food selection. Store officials cut a 6-foot-long loaf of bread during the grand opening.

BJ's and Pillsbury also donated $500 to BJ's Adopt-a-School partnership program. The store adopted Cranberry Station Elementary School to help with fund raising, curriculum enhancements and community service opportunities.

Participating in the grand opening were Clayton Shelhoss, national sales manager of McCormic & Co.; Cranberry Station Elementary Principal Judith Walker; Ken Hayes, BJ's zone vice president of operations; Jeff Carey, BJ's general manager; Reggie Dunn, BJ's regional manager; Bonnie Grady, president of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce; and Toni Conden of Western Maryland College.

Registration taken for chamber's Spring Fest

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its annual Spring Fest business fair from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 16 at TownMall of Westminster.

The St. Patrick's Day theme will be "Find Your Pot o' Gold, Right Here in Carroll County."

Special events will include booth contests, children's activities and an appearance by the Wizards.

Exhibit space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. A $25 discount is available for those who register by Dec. 31. Vendor spaces are available. Nonprofit organizations are welcome.

The final deadline for registration is March 1.

Hoy named director at Maryland SportsCare

Physical therapist Brian Hoy has been named director of spine care and back education at Maryland SportsCare & Rehab Center in 140 Village Shopping Center in Westminster.

He has practiced in Carroll County for more than three years, most recently at HealthSouth in Westminster.

He has been a physical therapist for six years and has experience in spine rehabilitation and manual therapy.

Maryland SportsCare & Rehab is a comprehensive physical and occupational therapy provider. Specialized programs include spine care, hand therapy, arthritis care and sports-injury care.
