Church seeks volunteers to help homeless men

Pasadena United Methodist Church is seeking volunteers to provide and serve lunch Christmas Day and Dec. 30 as a part of the church's annual Winter Relief Program. About 20 homeless men in Anne Arundel County will stay at the church from Dec. 24 through Dec. 31.

On Christmas Day, lunch providers are needed to cook and serve food from noon to 12:30 p.m., and hosts are needed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the church, 61 Ritchie Highway. Hosts are needed to provide companionship for the men Christmas Day and in two-hour shifts between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Dec. 30.

The church also needs clothing, furniture, bed linens, recreational materials and personal-hygiene items for the men to use during their stay. Items may be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and before noon Dec. 24.

Anchor Baptist to present Nativity pageant Sunday

The children of Anchor Baptist Church will present a Nativity pageant at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church, 320 W. Pasadena Road in Millersville. The children will perform vocal and instrumental solos.

The church's Christmas Eve service, "Old Fashioned Christmas" at 7 p.m., will feature Christmas carols, vocal solos, instrumental music and selected Scripture and poetry. Nursery care for children will not be available at the Christmas Eve service but will be provided Sunday and Dec 30.

Colonial Christmas: The Adult Choir of Woods Memorial Church will present a free concert, "A Colonial Christmas," at 8 p.m. today and tomorrow at the church, 611 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. in Severna Park. Holiday sing-along: A holiday season sing-along and concert featuring tenor Gioele Settembrini, who has performed at Carnegie Hall and has recorded two albums of religious music, and pianist Betty Hepler, a music teacher at St. Andrew's Elementary School, will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church on Shady Side Road. Christmas musical: Chesapeake Christian Center Church of God will present a musical Christmas drama at 7 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday at the church, 7975 Tick Neck Road. Information: 410- 255-3168.

Hark the Herald:Jenkins Church in Riviera Beach will present a holiday musical, Hark The Herald Angel, at 7 p.m. Sunday. The musical will feature adult and children's choirs. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served after the performance. Information: 410-437-3830.
