Austen Merson scored a takedown for an overtime win in his first heavyweight wrestling bout, clinching Hammond's 35-30 upset victory yesterday over No. 7 Mount St. Joseph.

For Hammond (2-0), Manuel Pitino (189 pounds) scored a technical fall to improve to 10-1; Ethan Cohen (103), Russell Tebeleff (130), Chad Graham (145) and Corey Wright (171) had pins; and Jarrel Graham (140) earned a decision for the Bears' first win over the Gaels.
