Lights to shine at tree ceremony at 11 a.m. Wednesday

Baltimore-Washington International Airport will celebrate the official lighting of its holiday tree at 11 a.m. Wednesday on the lower level of the observation gallery. Acting Executive Director Beverley Swaim-Staley will deliver greetings.

The Girl Scouts of Central Maryland chorus, including Scouts from Anne Arundel County, Baltimore and Baltimore County, will perform holiday music. A Girl Scout will flip the switch to light the 18-foot tree.

Owens to address business partnership

Anne Arundel County Executive Janet S. Owens will be the main speaker at the BWI Business Partnership breakfast meeting Thursday at the Historical Electronics Museum, 1745 West Nursery Road, Linthicum.

BWI Business Partnership Inc. is a nonprofit economic development and transportation management association made up of area employers.

Admission to the 7:45 a.m. meeting for nonmembers is $25; members are admitted free. Reservations are required.

Two stores make room for new security measures

To make security-screening areas wider and more convenient for passengers, one store in the BWI terminal has been moved and another has been reduced in size.

The Sunglass Hut has been moved farther down Pier C.

Hudson News, at Pier B, has been made smaller to accommodate two additional Southwest Airlines screening machines. The airlines added the to accommodate the heavier holiday traffic.
