December 02, 2001

Eight people were injured when a truck and a minivan that contained seven people collided at Route 175 and California Terrace in Gambrills late Friday, police reported yesterday. All but three were treated at area hospitals and released.

Hospitalized yesterday at Maryland Shock Trauma Center were minivan passengers Alisa Celentano, 18, of Glen Burnie and Stacey Fannon, 19, of Gambrills. Celentano was listed in critical condition and Fannon was listed in serious condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Evan Lankford, 18, of Crofton, the driver of the minivan, was taken to North Arundel Hospital in Glen Burnie and was transferred yesterday to Shock Trauma, where he was listed in serious condition.

Police said the accident occurred when a truck driven by Paul Bedient, 27, of Lusby and the minivan collided.

The impact of the collision spun each vehicle around. Police said the investigation was continuing.
