County firefighters group to present awards today in safety poster contest

The Carroll County Volunteer Firemen's Association will present awards for its annual fire prevention poster contest at 2 p.m. today at the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company's open house.

The contest is sponsored by the Prevention and Life Safety Committee for children in grades one through five.

The grand prize winner in each grade will receive a certificate. Other winners will receive ribbons. Schools that had entries will receive a participant ribbons and certificates.

Winners are:

Faith Christian School: First grade, Chloe Pavuk, first place and grand prize winner.

Winfield Elementary: First grade, Tyler Arrowood, first place.

Sandymount Elementary: First grade, Kyle Murphy, first place; Jillian Ryan, second place; Elizabeth Hall, third place.

Second grade: Morgan Eichensehr, first place; Amy Bryant, second place; Sarah Duff, third place.

Third grade: Sierra Canapp, first place and grand prize winner; Kristin Abrams, second place; Tyler Codd, third place.

Fourth grade: Emily Armacost, first place and grand prize winner; Emily Thomas, second grade; Dominique Miller, third place.

Fifth grade: Vicki Stroosnyder, first place; Katie Keydash, second place; Brittany Tasker, third place.

Freedom Elementary: Second grade, Allison Regan, first place and grand prize winner.

Manchester Elementary: Second grade, Rebecca Lefkowitz, first place; Katelyn Kuhn, second place; Serra Berry, third place.

Fifth grade: Rachel Greenberg, first place.

Runnymede Elementary: Second grade, Tyler Hudson, first place; Manelle El-Negevy, second place; Stephanie Hyson, third place.

Taneytown Elementary: Second grade, Tevin Whittaker, first place; Amanda Smith, second place; Brody Aberts, third place.

Fourth grade: Jamie Watson, first place.

Carrolltowne Elementary: Second grade, Megan Hill, first place.

Third grade, Emily Borders, first place.

Robert Moton Elementary: Third grade, Jane Sussman, first place; Val Barata, second place; Kelsey Fick, third place.

Fourth grade: Courtney Bische, first place; Danielle Love, second place.

Fifth grade: Philip Stem, first place and grand prize winner.

Spring Garden Elementary: Fifth grade, Trisha Pingor, first place; Greg Schmidt, second place; Elena Rotova, third place.
