NCAA Div. I tournament

Round of 16

No. 11 Loyola (17-1-2) at No. 4 Saint Louis (17-1)

Site: Hermann Stadium, St. Louis

Time: 8 p.m.

Series: Saint Louis has a 3-1-1 advantage, including a 1-0 win in the teams' last meeting in 1990.

How they got there: Loyola defeated Maryland, 1-0, in double overtime; Saint Louis def. Missouri-Kansas City, 2-1.

Outlook: Here's the simple math: the Greyhounds allowed only 11 goals this season, and the high-powered Billikens scored 50. Both teams enter with impressive streaks. Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champ Loyola has gone unbeaten (17-0-2) since a 4-0, season-opening loss to California; Saint Louis, Conference USA champ, has gone unbeaten in its past 14 home games. The Greyhounds thrive on the road (12-1-2) and in overtime games (5-0-2) and will bring a no-pressure, underdog tag with them. The first 25 minutes will be critical to the Billikens, in front of a juiced-up crowd, trying for a quick start against the visitors. Loyola's defense, which remained intact from last year and is led by MAAC Player of the Year Niall Lepper and goalkeeper Reb Beatty, will need to stay composed against Saint Louis forward Dipsy Selolwane (country-leading 24 goals) and midfielder Brad Davis (10 goals, 13 assists). The longer the game stays tight, the more confident the Greyhounds will become with Graham Marchant (nine goals, three assists) and Juliano Adriano de Oliveira (seven goals, four assists) capable of scoring.
