Josh Morris

Hereford, football

The 5-11, 175-pound running back and cornerback scored his 12th touchdown of the year and intercepted his third pass to go with eight tackles, sparking last weekend's 9-0 shutout of Class 2A state semifinal rival City. In the victory, believed to be Baltimore County's first over the traditional Baltimore City power, Morris rushed for 37 of his 50 yards in the second half, including a 2-yard run that capped a 12-play, 43-yard drive with 7:04 to play.

One of six Hereford players who have rushed for more than 550 yards, Morris has 572 yards on the season. Morris carries a B average and hopes to play football at Frostburg State, Salisbury or Towson.

GIRLS

Kelly Fiorani

Liberty, soccer

The senior striker rallied her team with two goals in the last six minutes for a 2-1 comeback victory at the Maryland Association of Coaches of Soccer All-State Game last week.

With her team trailing 1-0, Fiorani booted a shot off the crossbar that hit the keeper and rolled into the net. She then scored the game-winner in the 58th minute, nailing a fine shot from right in front of the goal. After the game, Fiorani was awarded Most Valuable Player honors for her side. A four-year starter for the Lions, Fiorani scored seven goals and had five assists during the season. A three-sport standout who also plays basketball and lacrosse, Fiorani carries a 4.0 weighted grade-point average.
